MAGGIE'S POOCH PLACE

Maggie's mom is a Minature Schnauzer and her dad is a Yorkshire Terrier.  She was born in August of 2002 in Kentucky and has lived with MOM and PAPA since she was 6 weeks old.  She has a mostly silver/white coat with a small amount of tan.  Her ears have been left natural but her tail has been bobbed  and she weights about 14 pounds.  Maggie is very intelligent and loves people, especially children.  She does not socialize very well with other animals (she is very shy), probably because she hasn't had much contact with them.  Maggie has a very demanding personality and requires a lot of attention.

Maggie can do several tricks.

She loves to play fetch with a tennis ball (or just about anything else, for that matter). When her MOM is folding the laundry Maggie will put her toy in the basket and wait for MOM to throw it, then bring it back and put it in the basket for another turn.  She will wait for a few minutes and if MOM doesn't notice the toy in the basket she will bark.

Maggie can roll over, speak, stand up pretty, and those types of things.  She will shake something really hard when she is told to. She will only roll over if she is on a rug!  When camping, Maggie has her own chair outside and she is very well behaved.  When little children come up to her she always lays down on the ground for them to pet her and never jumps on them.

Maggie has about 25 stuffed toys.  She loves squeakers but she plays with them so much that they wear out quickly.  MOM ordered a batch of squeakers to replace the broken ones and Maggie worries and worries while the toy is having surgery to replace it's squeaker.  As soon as the last stitch is done on the toy and the scissors come out to cut the thread she knows MOM is finished and demands to have her baby.  Maggie will fetch her toys by name, for instance if you tell her to get the chicken she will search for it and bring it, then the bear, etc. until there is a pile of toys where she has fetched them all.  At one time she could do this with about 20 different toys.

Sometimes Maggie will bring a toy and set it on PAPA's foot.  This is a sign that he is supposed to kick it up in the air so she can catch it.  If he doesn't pay any attention to her, Maggie will sit on his foot, or even his head, if he is laying on the floor!

MOM cuts Maggie's hair when she needs it.  It isn't always perfect but it gets the job done.  PAPA usually gives her a bath.  When her bath is over she attacks the towel and drags it up and down the stairs or the hall.  She also likes to play tug of war with a washrag.
